The Advocates: towards social and economic change

Welcome to a work in progress. Your thoughts and feedback are appreciated.

I’m Tammy Lea Meyer, and I’m an advocate for social and economic change. I want to support bringing important change projects to light, so they can be seen and participated with. Also, I am passionate about collaboration, and want to support collaboration through bringing people together to share their work and documenting that progression. In a sense, it is an ‘open source’ approach: people can follow along, suggest other connections or projects that may align, and feed into the process if they have something to offer.

It’s an honour and pleasure to introduce you to Daniel Harris of Kendra.io and Arthur Brock of the Metacurrency Project, Ceptr, and the Holochain. They’re awesome. We met at the Impact Economy Summit in Whistler BC, an event put together by Caroline Smalley of The Citizens Media and I3 Coop. You can check out some of the podcasts we made then on their Youtube channel.

Daniel Harris: Kendra Hub

Daniel Harris is inspiring, and the lead of the Kendra Initiative. He has been working for over a decade on digital rights management software, to provide nested granularity so that contributors to digital assets can manage their rights, attribution, and revenue that is generated. It is a revolutionary project that has the potential to radically change how people receive compensation for their digital works.

Daniel has been funded by the EU with a consortium of groups all over Europe, and is gearing up for a major push in development. Here’s our overview session on his work, check it out below.

Arthur Brock’s current focus is on the Holochain, a project of Ceptr. Essentially the Holochain is a next level machine language environment, blockchain-like, with some critical improvements. It would be impossible to cover all that Arthur is working on, (he’s a powerhouse!) so we’ve focused on the work he’s progressing for the summer of 2017.

We’d not seen each other in a while, and thought it would be useful to update each other we are at, and how we can collaborate in our projects. The three of us met on June 7, and I’m pleased to see that there are several ways that we can help each other, and they are connecting at a good time in their projects, as both of them are pushing forward in their development stages. I want to help by creating some use cases for their projects, and by collaborating to create any media that we can use to promote the projects and track the work that is being done.

This is a work in progress. If you want to support these explorations into awesome, inspiring, and next level social and economic change projects, you can contribute to the crowdfunding campaign, and share it with your friends. ;)
