Taxonomy Path

Global Solution Networks

A literature review and initial investigation produced the first comprehensive taxonomy to describe these new networks. We used a functional perspective to identify the different “species” of problem-solving networks. The taxonomy is “comprehensive” in that all networks can be included. The categories are not completely mutually exclusive and any given network may overlap with other networks types. However, any network can be said to fall primarily or principally in one of the categories. Networks can also change. It is important to bear in mind the possibility that a network’s purpose can shift (say, from knowledge to advocacy, for example) over time. This is a good topic for further investigation.  Understanding the conditions under which networks undergo what might be called “purpose shifts” is key to understanding their social dynamics. The 10 network categories, with examples, are:

Associative Networks Can Be Very Personal

Therefore, finding or discovering of particular topic must be provided in a number of ways

What Works for Me, Might Work for Anyone Else

Jessie Henshaw You aren't responding to any of my questions or the PS work I'm trying to engage others in, saying this isn't a work space? You don't seem to have read my unanswered emails... I'm frustrated that the people asking for help here are not asking for help learning pattern language as a tool for doing work, and... that that seems to include you, the author of a major proposal for doing that.. I'm a bit puzzled, but have seen groups go this way before, and am not interested if that's the way it's going. January 19 at 6:13am

Dmitry Sokolov Jessie, I understand your frustration " I'm a bit puzzled, but have seen groups go this way before, and am not interested if that's the way it's going."
The problem is in the form the work is being performed here. What you've seen ("people asking for help here are not asking for help learning pattern language as a tool for doing work") is normal for (FaceBook) forum format. Any and all forums I've seen tend to mix topics of the threads and become a kind of a common chat room. That is normal as each individual's mind connects topics that can be seen sometimes irrelevant to others. Focusing and following the "common sense" on a topic is nearly impossible due to our different intents, perceptions / points of view, our different abilities to see, follow and support of other's points of view (cohesion).
That's the reason for me to "build" a separate "whiteboard" for every topic of interest and organise all conversations in whatever environment (even in FaceBook) exclusively around those "whiteboards". The "whiteboards" are "wide enough" to accumulate all data, knowledge, opinions, best practices, patterns, experts and participants, anything relevant to the topic of the interest.
However, in any case, success of communication is defined not by the methods and tools but by cohesion and intents of participants as mentioned elsewhere by M Ichael and David.

Strategic Knowledge Mapping: The Co-Creation of Useful Knowledge

There were many suggestions about how the game might be improved, simplified, marketed, and developed in new ways. For example, the game could be played by individuals or small groups who would each develop a small map; then, those maps could be connected to create a larger, more intricate map to gain still greater insights. Another important suggestion was that the game could be moved to an online environment. This could a much more positive user experience (Deterding, Sicart, Nacke, O'Hara, & Dixon, 2011).

Other suggestions include the idea that we might provide online instructions and videos as well as sample maps or samples of play. These would be very useful to help new players to see how the game should be played.
